About this pattern
TECHNIQUE - PLEASE READ FIRST: RAW-EDGE FUSIBLE APPLIQUE
This is a raw-edge fusible applique pattern. The templates print at FINISHED SIZE with NO seam allowance and NO dashed turn-under lines, and they come as numbered full-size layout sheets - not as separate cut-out pieces. You trace each shape onto paper-backed fusible web, iron it to your fabric, cut on the drawn line, peel, press it in place, and stitch over the raw edge with a blanket or narrow zigzag stitch. Paper-backed fusible web is required. This is NOT a turned-edge / needle-turn pattern, and there are no dotted seam-allowance lines to turn under.
Four fabulously dressed geese stand side by side in this charming folk-art quilt design, each one bursting with personality and vintage style. The tallest goose sports a blue dress and knotted blue bow headscarf, her neighbour wears a soft lavender body with an olive green beret and jaunty neck-tie, the third is dressed to impress in a bold navy and cream striped outfit with a matching bow tie and golden straw boater hat, and the fourth cuts a chic figure in teal and olive with a pretty pink bucket hat. The whole scene is set against a warm cream background. Every geometric piece of this design — the angular wings, rounded bodies, and boldly shaped feet — is pure joy to fussy-cut and fuse, making it an irresistible project for quilters who love a bit of wit and whimsy in their work.
TWO DESIGNS IN ONE DOWNLOAD - stitch either, or both
- Design 1: WITH DECORATIVE BORDERS - the geese panel framed by a pieced coral-pink inner border and an olive-green outer border, for a finished vintage-print look straight off the pattern.
- Design 2: GEESE ONLY, NO BORDERS - the same four geese on the plain cream ground, ready to frame with your own borders, sashing or binding, or to leave beautifully simple.
Both designs use the same 14 fabric colours, so one stash of fabrics makes either version - and every size uses the same 14 colours, only the yardage changes.
FIVE FINISHED SIZES FOR EACH DESIGN (print whichever you like)

Every pattern in this shop is my own work, from the first line to the last page. I draw each design by hand as an original vector illustration in Adobe Illustrator, then develop it into a ready-to-sew applique pattern - every cutting line, every fabric colour, every template page and instruction. Each one takes time and a lot of care, and I hope that comes through when you stitch it.
