About this pattern

Four happy donkeys stand shoulder to shoulder, each one pieced in its own bold colour blocks: olive and marigold, aqua and navy, sunshine yellow and maroon, cream and coral. They have long black-lined ears, spiky manes in cherry red, wine and black, sweet lashed eyes and wide friendly smiles on pastel muzzles, and their striped legs end in sturdy black hooves. They stand on a warm oatmeal ground inside a cheerful patchwork border of cherry red, teal, marigold, olive and salmon-pink squares with a wine-red binding.

The 24" and 30" sizes are included for anyone who would like a smaller wall hanging or cushion. The pieces are a bit small there: many stitchers merge a couple of neighbouring pieces cut from the same fabric, or leave the tiniest accents out, and the design still reads beautifully.

🎨 SKILL LEVEL: Beginner to Intermediate - the project uses raw-edge fusible applique and basic quilting techniques; the bodies are big colour blocks, with a few small pieces in the eyes, manes and tails.

About how this was made: The initial design idea was developed with the help of AI tools. I then drew each design by hand as an original vector illustration in Adobe Illustrator and built the pattern myself: the templates, colour placement and sewing instructions.
